After graduating, he attended Moraine Valley Community College where he then decided to start his career in the Navy. James was active in the Navy for four years as an Aviation Storekeeper, where he maintained P3O airplanes, Naval Fighting Jets, and other company military supply stores. His responsibilities included purchasing and procurement, shipping and receiving, and issuing of equipment, tools, consumable items and anything else obtained through the Naval Supply System. After four years of being active in the Navy he completed four years of drill service.
Installation Services, Inc. was started in 1988 under the direction of Ronald Romano. In September 2012, James Vogel took over as President and owner of Installation Services. James, an Orland Park native, graduated from Carl Sandburg high school in 1984.
James has been involved in the telecommunications industry for over 25 years. He started working for Andrew Corporation in 1989, a manufacturer of hardware for communications networks. He started out at Andrew making cable on foam lines and seam welding the lines. A few years later, he was transferred to department 411 where he was in charge of cutting, fitting, and testing cables. In 1994, he was transferred once again to the broadcast department, where he worked with manufacturing, designing, and testing antennas. Shortly after, he took over Field Service Supervision for delivery, troubleshooting, and installation of all high powered and low powered TV antennas.
In 2001, James started working for Installation Services as a project manager. In 2003 he was promoted to Vice President of Operations and was in charge of handling all day-to-day operations and decisions for Installation, Services. In September 2012, James took over the business as President and owner of operations.
